Towards a Probabilistic Dung-style Argumentation System

چکیده
In this paper we present a generalization of the ASPIC argumentation system, where a rule can be associated with a probability. This probability expresses uncertainty about whether or not the particular rule is active. We call this system p-ASPIC. The uncertainty about rules carries over to uncertainty about whether or not a particular argument is active. We generalize the usual Dung-style abstract argumentation semantics, in order to deal with this uncertainty. Our work should be understood as an initial step in the direction of probabilistic, instantiated, Dung-style argumentation, and we discuss a number of directions for future work.

Towards (Probabilistic) Argumentation for Jury-based Dispute Resolution
We propose an argumentation framework for modelling jury-based dispute resolution where the dispute parties present their arguments before a judge and a jury. While the judge as the arbiter of law determines the legal permissibility of the presented arguments the jurors as triers of facts determine their probable weights. Such a framework is based on two key components: classical argumentation ...
متن کاملArgumentation-Based Negotiation? Negotiation-Based Argumentation!
We design a protocol for two autonomous negotiating agents to incorporate Dung-style argumentation into an ongoing bargaining dialogue. Previous approaches considered bargaining and Dung-Style Argumentation as separated components, we show that intertwining these approaches increases the agents scope of action. In our framework the acceptance of an argument or attack uttered by self-interested ...
متن کاملRevision of an Argumentation System
In this paper, we address the problem of revising a Dung-style abstract argumentation system, when we add a new argument which interacts with one previous argument. We study the impact of such an addition on the outcome of the argumentation system, more particularly on the set of its extensions. Different kinds of revision are defined according to the change induced on the number or on the cont...
متن کاملA structured argumentation framework for detaching conditional obligations
We present a general formal argumentation system for dealing with the detachment of conditional obligations. Given a set of facts, constraints, and conditional obligations, we answer the question whether an unconditional obligation is detachable by considering reasons for and against its detachment. For the evaluation of arguments in favor of detaching obligations we use a Dung-style argumentat...
